An End and a Beginning

The Life’s Good Racing!TM   team completed its 2011 Season with its first Win in USTCC with Dave Brown taking the 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart to an impressive lead early in the last race of the year at Infineon and holding on for a fantastic close to a great, development season.  The picture shows Dave on the podium with the second and third place finishers of the race.

The USTCC season results have been released, and we were able to secure a third place in the overall rankings for the year, an impressive start for a new car.  More importantly however, is that the final race win provides positive indications for the 2012 season, which is right around the corner.

In addition to a great finale in USTCC, I was able to take a couple of wins in Performance Touring A class that same weekend at Infineon Raceway in the Life’s Good Racing!TM  Lancer.  All in all, it was a fantastic end to a very good season.

clip_image006_0001To top it all off, we had the 1969 Camaro at the track as well and continue to evolve it’s performance as we work on the chassis and set-up.  This work has yielded consistent laps in the 1:48 range with a couple of 1:47s logged by both Dave and myself.  We turned these laps in Time Trials, running in the Unlimited Time Trials class (TTU) and were able to consistently run at the front of the pack with these lap times in either position one or position two.  Needless to say, the 1969 Camaro continues to be THE crowd pleaser, and a lot of fun to drive.  We have more changes in store, which we expect to yield further performance improvements.

With the new 2012 season commencing within the next eight weeks, our sights are set on continued evolution of both cars as we set our sites on significantly better performance in USTCC along with even more speed from the 1969 Camaro.  We are attempting to make it to a testing day at Thunderhill Raceway this coming Sunday, January 8, and from there possibly one of the two testing days at Infineon this month.

We will be posting the new season’s schedule as soon as it is available to us on the Schedule page of this site and hope that you can make it to the track to cheer us on and visit us in the pits.  As I have shared in previous postings, one of the great differentiators between Pro racing and Amateur racing is the informality of the Amateur racing environment, which means that you can walk freely throughout the pits and visit with the drivers and teams.clip_image008
You can learn what they are doing, ask questions, and potentially get rides in cars!  Come out and see what it’s all about!  Mention this column and be our guest!

This last year’s results could not have been achieved without the tremendous support from our sponsors.  In particular, I would like to thank Hawk Brakes for providing the “Whoa” that went with our tremendous “Go” in both cars.  Hawk has been a consistent standout performer that has given us the edge in the braking department, or as Mark Donohue use to call it, the “Unfair Advantage.”  Thank you Hawk for giving us the confidence to go hard and deep into the corners!!!!

New on the team this year as we began our Lancer campaign are WORKS Motorsports and San Rafael MitsubishiWORKS Motorsports has been the brains and execution behind the powerplant of the Lancer as they possess unique expertise in tuning and maximizing turbo powered engines.  Additionally, WORKS provided us with consultation and guidance across a whole range of support areas including performance optimization, electrical, etc.  The entire WORKS team is without comparison in this space.

San Rafael Mitsubishi kept us in a supply of key parts required for the Lancer program.  The team there is beyond responsive, supportive and knowledgeable and contributed immensely to the success achieved throughout the year.  Additionally, they have a very helpful and delightful staff with which to work.  The Lancer was on display at the San Rafael Mitsubishi showroom for a couple of weeks after the season’s end and received many positive reviews from visitors. Finally, unending appreciation must be expressed to the entire
Life’s Good Racing!TM  team, without which the season’s achievements could not have been reached. Here’s to a fantastic 2012!
