Before discussing this weekend, I want to provide a brief update on our last outing two weeks ago at Sonoma Raceway. The weekend was one of some real highs and some not so fortunate lows. The Life’s Good Racing!TM team was fortunate to play host to a seasoned racer, Mario Lento, as he piloted the #96, 2012 Camaro for the weekend. He did a fantastic job of learning this beast! In his own words: “This is my first time behind the wheel of such a car. Believe me, if you ever get to drive one of these – it’s the closest you’re ever going to get to knowing what Iron Man feels like.”
On the flip side, we took the #69 Camaro out for only its third session on the new motor, and, unfortunately lost the motor in a big way going through Turn 9 at speed. Luckily, the car did not sustain any damage, only the motor did. After this weekend, we’ll be pulling it out and analyzing it along with our motor builder. Needless to say, #69 will be back as soon as possible as we anticipate a busy season next year.
This weekend promises to be full of excitement as Dave Brown competes in the #12 BMW M3 from a position of being 2nd in season points, and with an outside chance of the season title. And, John Klusendorf, driving the #18 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart, currently 5th in season points is within striking distance of Ali Arsham in 4th.
If you weren’t aware, this is a historic race weekend for Sonoma Raceway as it hosts a day/night endurance race for the first time in its storied history. The USTCC race is, in fact, an Enduro that starts at 4:00pm on Saturday and concludes at 6:00pm in the dark! It is exciting for all of us on the Life’s Good Racing!TM team to be part of this event. Needless to say, we are hoping to see many of you out there again this weekend to share in this experience with us.
Finally, we are fortunate to have had the support of each of the following leaders in their respective automotive field. Their products, technology and expertise have provided the foundation of our success to date: HAWK Performance, Competition Clutch, WORKS Motorsports, San Rafael Mitsubishi, Big O Dublin, Supertech, Red Line, and Koenig.
See you at the races!
